I remember a very very special day in my life, my First Holy Communion. It was a warm sunny day in mid May 1957. Mum said "breakfast must be eaten before you put on your dress and veil". I ate the quickest breakfast of my whole life!! I felt like a princess leaving the house wearing my beautiful dress, veil and white shoes. We went to Meath Street church for mass. Afterwards, Mum took my lovely pink coat off me and my school friends and I ran across the road to Myra hall for delicious jelly and ice cream.

Later on that day my mum took me out to work with her. My mum sold newspapers on Haddington Road every day. When 5 o clock came round mum gave me some newspapers to serve all the men coming out from the Bottle Company on Grand Canal. As I was giving the men their newspapers I noticed two people looking at me. The woman called me over and gave me a ten-shilling note, which was a lot of money in those days. So I got very excited, I ran back over to my mum and gave it to her.
