Step back in time
By Noel Phelan
After all the years not having an education its been a hard road. My confidence have taken a lot of knocks over the years. I think back on the thing that I have liked to have done and the thing I should have done like reading a story to my children.
Now I am on my way to learning how to read and write and loving every minute of it and the tutors are the best. I was asked to take part in a documentary about growing up without an education. nobody should be told that they don’t need an education I think that no parent should have to hide that they cant read or write from their children. This documentary has made me think about the past. I am pleased that I took the step in to adult education I enjoyed every minute of it. I went to
Woodstock with the film crew and the writer Kate Thompson today. We enjoyed spending days out in Woodstock with ye in the past. We look forward to having ye home. Kate said that Woodstock was a lovely place. We talked about letter that I was writing to ye. Then she read some letters to me that was handed down to her from her family and the letters are a 100 years old. When I write my letters ye can show them to your children so they will show them to their children.
We went to the library and the people were very happy to see the writer Kate Thompson coming to the library. The woman said that I was not going to leave until I join the library. It was the first time I was in a library. The boxes came by courier. We know that the time is coming near for having ye home. We looked in the boxes like ye asked us to when we opened the boxes roxy could get your cent from them so it looks like that she never forgot ye. I was looking in the book of poems that Ellen left here.
People miss their share of happiness.
Not because they never found it.
But because they didn’t stop to enjoy it.
